PYIMS
IYPT 2027 · AUCKLAND
Pakistan Young Innovative Minds' Society (PYIMS) is the society of physicists and educators behind Pakistan's national Young Physicists' Tournament — running workshops, tournaments and school partnerships across the country. Now PYIMS is organizing the National Talent Search for IYPT 2027: the "World Cup of Physics", where teams from 40+ countries defend original research in live physics fights.
PYIMS has run the Pakistan Young Physicists' Tournament across schools nationwide — one transparent ranking, open to schools, colleges and homeschoolers alike. Selection is purely merit-based through one national ranking.
Shortlisted students work on real IYPT problems with expert physicists — research, debate, team play. And for the final five — a fully funded flight to Auckland, New Zealand, carrying the flag at IYPT 2027.

Every stage of the programme comes with its own level of training — and it starts the moment you register. Registered candidates receive a curated list of topics selected from the IYPT 2027 problem set, along with the specific concepts shortlisted for the online test. These are rooted in what most students already study at school or college, so nothing should feel alien. In the coming weeks we will also add problem-focused study material to help you practise the kinds of questions that may appear.
Candidates shortlisted from the online test move on to a broader syllabus tied to each IYPT problem — especially the topics likely to feature in the Mystery Box Challenge. The top 50 attend a week-long boot camp at Lumora International, Islamabad, with hands-on mentoring from experts and scientists. The final 5 selected for Team Pakistan receive even more focused, one-on-one mentoring that continues right up to the tournament. In short: the further you go, the deeper the support — but it begins on day one.
No. The first round is online and proctored, so you can take it from any city or village in Pakistan. The in-person round runs in major cities, and qualifying is based only on your ranking — talent is everywhere; PYIMS exists to find it.
As many as possible! Students participate individually, not as teams. We form teams randomly on the day of the on-site interview and Mystery Box Challenge — so the more students from your school, the better.
Yes. PYIMS believes that all it takes is an aptitude for science — you don't need prior tournament experience or special preparation. We are here to train and mentor you at multiple stages: from online guidance after registration, through intensive boot camps and a month-long residency, all the way to the world stage. If you have curiosity and drive, we'll help you get there.
